Light Touch (2013)

Light Touch is a kinetic-light installation conceived in collaboration with Haptic Architects, where I engineered a wave mechanism to animate a constellation of CNC-milled black MDF slats, producing a slow, breathing choreography of light. Over the eight-week run in the temporary lobby, the installation gradually transformed the spatial atmosphere: smoke emitted from floor-level vents diffused through the slats, clouding and softening the incoming beams of illumination. The movement of light through the shifting planes evoked a resonant dialogue with the subtle seasonal light qualities of Nordic landscapes. In this project I built the central kinetic driver; my student Chryssa Varna assisted in both the design detailing and production. The result was not just a spectacle of light, but a sensitive architecture of motion—one in which light, shadow, and ambient atmosphere become an inhabitable performance in time.
